New Search Engine

At least for me it is. RedZee is a new search engine that has been advertising on Craigslist. I took a quick look at it. Here's my first question: Why...why do they have Flash on the homepage? I mean, it looks cool and it's fun to see the Zebra jump up and done, but not everyone has Flash enabled on their computer. Then there's the browsers that don't support flash, etc... I don't understand that.

Anyway, what I do like about it, which I've seen before, is the Quick Look feature. When you click on this, after doing an initial search, you get a javascript pop-down (for lack of a better word). You can then browse the site right there in that same browser window. Kinda neat. Also has a funky referencing area up at the top that lists related information to your query.

The site uses thumbnails with its listings and pull a contextual network off to the right. Same design. Nothing new. Probably a few college kids looking to get into the search game. Have fun! :)

This may be useful...for some

I found this neat tool that removes bad words outta your keyword lists. Now, if you know anything about Google adsense, you'll know that you're not allowed to have your adsense show up on pages that are "inappropriate". This tool is nice to have in your back pocket to filter out those nasty keywords.

$10 a day - Way to go me!

Well, I'm up to $10 a day with my directory generator sites. I have only got 4 sites up and running, so that equates to $2.50 so far per site.

Here's a little breakdown:

Site 1: 93 pages indexed in G
Site 2: 98 pages indexed in G
Site 3: 890 pages indexed in G
Site 4: 1 page indexed in G

Site 4 should be fully indexed within a couple of days. The best way to get these pages indexed is if you have sites that are already been around for a little while. Drop a couple links from your White Hat sites and they'll get indexed fairly quickly. Also try purchasing some links from DP forums or Ebay.

Why only 4 sites?
As some of you know, I've been doing this for some time now. Unfortunately, I've been busy with personal things outside of the internet and Thanksgiving. I should be cranking out some sites within the next few days

I also wanted to test a few different designs I was using, seeing which design yields the most return per site. I've found a design is bringing in more clicks then the others, so I'm going to start building more sites based on that site design.

Just amazing!

MIT has released their new $100 laptops. This project was started because they wanted to have every child in the world with a computer. The world is getting smaller! It's awesome to see ingenuity like this in our sometimes "battered" world.

WebmasterWorld PubCon

I'm not into regurgitating news and Barry does such a good job anyway. I mean he really does a good job! If you want to keep up to date with the conference, I'd suggest you jump over to SEroundtable and read a little. It started yesterday. All the speakers always seem to leave a couple of key tidbits to help spur an idea that could potential lead to something immense, the trick is to figure out what tidbits are good.

What a great resource!

For the past month or so, I've been gathering unique content from a service called Constant Content. This website is a great idea. It's pretty much articles (and writers) on demand. You can submit a request for articles and presto! ...you have 5 or 6 articles on your topic from articles within a couple of days.

Duplicant content is a big issue online. I was doing a SEO critique for someone at the AP forums and he didn't know why his site was going down hill in Google. As for SEO is concerned, it was good. His only downfall was the content, he was using article writers from RentACoder and they were giving him duplicant content as articles...and charging him for it! Unbelievable! Anyway, that was the reason his site had taken a turn for the worst. I told him to screen the articles using Copyscape before purchasing them. That way, he has a way to check their work.

Constant Content is a way to get articles that are unique. After posting a request, you can purchase the articles in 3 different platforms; the platforms being: download content with author linked signature, download article with article name (no links) or download article and do whatever you want to it.

I've used several different methods for gathering articles, from using Elance to hiring professional and ghost writers. I like what Constant Content has going on and I recommend them completely.

The Trick is...

So, I'm learning with my directory case study is that getting the pages indexed are the real trick to the whole process. And in doing that, you need to get links. I've been getting a few dollar clicks with the sites. Currently, I'm working on getting the sites indexed with links, which is easier said then done. You're not going to get .EDU links to these types of site, so you have to work on other methods to get incoming links.

Buying links on Ebay is one way of achieving that goal, but you have to watch out for the advertisers on there. They like to sell you advertiser links on sites with don't pass any link value and haven't been cached/indexed in well over 2+ months. So word to the wise: Watch out.

On a side note, the site was down over the weekend. I was in San Francisco and couldn't get the site back up till today. Email is working again too, FYI.

Free .be domains!

E3 is handing out .be domains for your top level domain pleasure. I might pick up a couple and play around with them. Nick said they're giving them out to Americans as well, so why not!
